The Sony G 20-70mm f4 is a full frame zoom lens with a large focal range. For this portrait photoshoot I am using the lens on the Sony A7IV.

The Sony G 20-70mm f4 is a small and lightweight lens considering the wide focal range it provides. This lens has external zoom and weighs 488g, it feels comfortable and balanced on the Sony A7IV. This 20-70mm f4 has a focus ring, a zoom ring and an aperture ring which features an IRIS lock switch. The focus ring is linear. There is an aperture click switch, AF to MF switch and a customisable focus hold button. This lens is rated by Sony to be dust and moisture resistant.

You can see by how many images I've included in this blog post that I enjoyed my time shooting with this lens! I think the Sony G 20-70mm f4 has a cool fashion photography look when it comes to portraits. This zoom lens has an interesting focal range because you can get those super wide photos with a large depth of field. Then you zoom in to 70mm and when you have the right amount of distance from your subject to the background you are able to capture dreamier portraits with quite a shallow depth of field and lots of bokeh.

Aside from photography, this lens is going to be a great addition to many videographer's kits. I share video autofocus examples on the Sony A7sIII in the review video below. I can see this lens coming in handy for general videography but especially travel and content creation. I vlog on a prime lens: the Sony G 20mm f1.8. This 20mm prime weighs 373g. So at just over 100 grams heavier, you can get a whole zoom range up to 70mm however at the expense of some low light performance.

Watch my review below to see how this lens performs in the real world. I share my in depth thoughts on the autofocus performance, accuracy and image quality of this Sony G 20-70mm f4. If you haven't already, please subscribe to my YouTube Channel! I upload new photography videos every single week.
