I spent a morning doing landscape photography around Lake Bled in Slovenia using the Sony A7IV with the GM 35mm f1.4 lens.

We set off the loop walk around the lake and it was such a stunning stroll. I loved every minute of it and kept stopping to take photos. I was contemplating coming here for sunrise but I'm happy we visited in the afternoon. The second half of the lake was all backlit and I captured some of my favourite photos where you can see the moon plus the jagged peaks of the mountains. Austria is SO incredible!
It's been a long day starting at 4am for sunrise landscape photography, then a trip to Lake Gousau and finally a stop in the town of Hallstatt. I have visited Hallstatt a few years ago during the spring. It's strange on that trip I was wearing a thick turtle neck jumper and on this trip just a light dress!
As I was getting ready to go to bed for a sunrise start the next day, I noticed the moon outside our bathroom window. It was in a crescent shape during blue hour and headed towards the jagged mountain peak. Dan quickly set up the tripod for a timelapse while I snapped a few photos. I started with a closeup shot of the moon with my 200-600mm f5.6-6.3 OSS lens.
I set my alarm for 4am, Dan and I hopped in the car while it was still dark and drove to our first location. We had scouted a couple of sunrise spots the day before. This spot was a nothing place - not a landmark or a viewpoint. It was by a little carpark for an army base just off the side of the road.
I thought I would share my street photography separately in this post instead. I captured all these photos with my Sony A7IV + GM 35mm f1.4.
Finally, the travel blogs are back!! It's been 3 years since I went overseas, my last trip being to Scotland to do photography for a wedding. Now that the Australian borders have opened again, Dan and I decided to head back to Gdansk, Poland to see his family. By the end of our first whirlwind week we were ready to head off on our month-long road trip. First stop - Poznan, Poland!
I took these photos in June of 2019, it was the last time I've travelled overseas from Australia since the pandemic started. At the time, Dan and I were staying with his family in Gdansk, Poland. We travelled to a few different places during the month we were there including Scotland to capture a wedding, a roadtrip to Austria and this little trip to Granada, Spain.
Today we are continuing on with our road trip through Austria. Our second half in Austria was a little more overcast so we spent a few of our outings exploring and taking photos in the rain.
Last year while Dan and I were in Europe, we decided to go on a roadtrip with Dan’s cousin Karol and his girlfriend Gosia to Austria. I took the Sony A7III with me for travel photography with the Sony 28mm f2 and 35mm f1.4.

Our weekend in the Scottish Highlands is one I’ll remember forever - Scotland is such a beautiful place that I could have easily spent a whole week (or two!) just in the highlands exploring and taking photos. On Saturday we made our way to the Isle of Skye, so on Sunday - our last day before our flights back to Gdansk, Poland - we decided to make our way to Glen Coe Valley. We visited the famous Harry Potter train tracks which took my breath away getting to see them in real life - what a beautiful structure! We also stopped at castles along our way, rivers, lakes, bridges - again as you can see in the vlog I filmed, we stopped on the side of the road to photograph everything pretty much every 10 minutes!
On our way home at the end of the day, we passed through the iconic mountains of the Scottish Highlands. All the parking spots with good viewpoints were absolutely packed to the brim, so we stopped at one a bit further back and decided to make the most of Scotland’s nature “freedom” and ran to the top of a hill to the most stunning views of the mountains at sunset. It’s safe to say Dan and I took at least 98098 photos of each other while we were up here and it was the perfect way to say goodbye to Scotland.

After the wedding, Dan and I only had 3 short days left to enjoy Scotland before our flights back to Gdansk, Poland. We were as far south as we could go in Scotland for the wedding, but decided to make our way all the way north in a long roadtrip to Inverness. Inverness was our base for the weekend and we spent both Saturday and Sunday going on roadtrips to explore the Scottish Highlands. On Saturday we woke up bright and early and made our way to the Isle of Skye, stopping every few minutes on the side of the road (as you can see in the vlog I filmed!) to take pictures with all the stunning landscapes around us.
The Scottish Highlands were absolutely beautiful and I would love to go back there one day and spend more time exploring. Since we only had 2 days to see everything, we couldn’t wait for ideal lighting conditions for landscape photography, so we worked with what we had. Luckily the weather in Scotland is usually quite overcast which I absolutely loved for creating moody photos. You can see a lot more of our trip and behind the scenes of us taking photos in the vlog I created from our time there below! After spending a few days in Edinburgh, it was time to head to the south of Scotland to get ready for the wedding we were capturing. The morning before the wedding Dan and I headed out to explore what was in our area and stumbled across Galloway Forest which was a beautiful park full of lakes, mountain views and you guessed it - forests! We spent a few hours driving, going for walks and taking lots of photos. One thing I noticed about the lakes in Scotland is that a lot of them are a very dark colour as you can see from the photo above, which I absolutely loved! The water looked clean but for some reason also looked almost black, it was mesmerising.
We headed back to our accommodation and spent the rest of the afternoon charging up all our camera batteries and getting our camera gear ready for the wedding. You can see a few photos from Laura & Shaun’s wedding here if you’re interested in taking a peek! It was a wonderful day and we were really spoilt for choice on photo locations in the amazing Scottish countryside. This is my first of 5 blog posts I’m going to be sharing from my time in Scotland and what better way to start than at the very beginning of our trip, in Edinburgh! After only 3 short weeks back at home after Thailand to catch up on work, capture a few weddings and do some photoshoots, Dan and I flew from Sydney, Australia to Gdansk, Poland. We spent about a week at Dan’s family’s place in the country catching up on jetlag, visiting the old town and as usual taking lots of photos and even filmed a video. Next up it was time to head to Scotland!
We were visiting Scotland as Dan and I were capturing a wedding while we were there. We decided to book our flights with a few extra days on either side of the wedding as Scotland is a place we both have wanted to visit for so long! Our first couple of days in Edinburgh were a whirlwind! We visited the old city, walked up to Edinburgh Castle, did a photoshoot with Tamar & Matt at the Botanical Gardens and did a photoshoot of photographer Caroline (behind the scenes for this photoshoot coming really soon!). Here are some of the pictures I captured in those first two days.
You can watch my vlog of the rest of our time in Scotland down below + it’s a sneak peek for the rest of the photo posts to come soon! Please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already, I upload a new video every Wednesday.

It's strange to think that this time 5 days ago, we were all the way up in Italy's north exploring the Italian Alps. Our last stop after a crazy week in Italy was the one I was most excited for. We are headed to Positano on the Amalfi Coast!
Dan and I had just spent our last 2 days in Florence before we started making our longest road trip yet to the Amalfi Coast. Since the drive was so long, we ended up making a detour to a beautiful locals-only beach somewhere in the south of Italy before making the rest of the trip at night to Positano.
When we arrived, we parked our car on the side of a cliff and watched the moon glistening over the water and soon after, watched the sun rise over the mountains illuminating all the beautiful homes, hotels and restaurants built in every nook and cranny on the mountains. I couldn’t believe I was here!
I also just want to mention that I am super proud of Dan for being able to drive on the streets of the Amalfi Coast. Every road up and down the mountain looks like a one way street, but really can fit two cars each way. There are people walking on each side of the road, vespas are constantly zooming past and restaurants and shops literally set up their tables and goods on either sides of the roads! So on top of all the constant winding and either driving up a really steep hill or down it, there were also soo many obstacles to constantly look out for! I don’t think I would be brave enough to drive in Positano.
We were in Positano for three days over the weekend and we spent our time here walking up and down hundreds of stairs - literally! you can see it all in my vlog here & here! - eating delicious Italian food, soaking in the crystal blue ocean, walking through all the beautiful alleyways looking at the local stores and just generally sitting and admiring the amazing views. This place is like nothing I’ve ever seen before and I would constantly catch myself just looking up at everything in awe.
I learnt so many things about being in Positano while I was there that I didn’t realise or think about even though this place has been on my bucket list for years! So I was thinking of making a video about tips for your first time visiting Positano or the Amalfi Coast. Let me know if you guys want to see it and I can create it for you! In the meantime though, I did vlog every day during our week in Italy and you can watch all the videos here!
But for now, I’m going to leave with you all the photos we took during our few days in this beautiful place, enjoy!

Dan and I were on our longest road trip haul through Italy yet making our way from Florence in the Tuscany region to Positano on the Amalfi Coast when we came across this gem in Italy’s south.
Towards the end of our trip, we had one last place we wanted to visit which was Positano. Since we were in Florence, that meant making a 6 hour drive to get to the coast! Oops.. didn’t plan that one ahead! On one of the many stops we made along the way, we decided to search and see if there was anything we could do to break up the drive which is where we found this beach. After hours and hours on being on the highway, we caught our first glimpse of the ocean and we started smiling immediately. We turned left onto the road which lines the beach and had the most beautiful mountain view ahead of us - it reminded me of Hawaii!
We parked the car and made our way down one of the little sandy alleyways between the holiday houses to the beach. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around and relaxing on the sand, taking a break from all that driving. We got to see the sun set over the ocean which is something I’ve only ever seen twice before in my life and we noticed that all the people on this beach were just locals - not another tourist in sight! For this reason, I’d rather not name the beach we found and help keep it a locals secret/haven from the tourist saturated cities in Italy.
It was the perfect way to end off the day and we felt rejuvenated to keep driving through the night to make it to our destination of Positano - which is coming in the next blog post!

A few days into our week in Italy, Dan and I left Venice in the late morning and made our way towards Florence in the region of Tuscany. Our first stop of the day was in Fiesole, a small, quiet town at the top of a hill with impressive views of Florence. We had a late lunch (I had gnocchi and Dan grabbed a pizza) while booking our accommodation for that night and the night afterwards. Once we knew where we were staying in Florence, we decided to head into the city!
We dropped off our bags and our car at the hotel and set off to see Florence by foot. Oh my, I fell in love with Florence - it’s such a beautiful city with a magic about it I can’t quite put into words. Our first stop was the Duomo aka the Florence Cathedral which is SUCH a beautiful building, so of course we ended up taking hundreds of photos of and with it! We also made our way around the city to see Ponte Vecchio - the medieval bridge with houses and shops built on top of it - Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Santa Croce Basilica and so many other things along the way that I can’t even remember now!
On our last day in Florence, Dan and I woke up early, checked out of our hotel and drove to the Piazzale Michelangelo which is a plaza with the most beautiful views of Florence. If you’ve ever googled Florence, almost all the pictures you see of it are taken from this spot!
I vlogged our entire week in Italy, which you can find on my YouTube channel! I can’t wait to share my next blog post where we start making our way further down south of Italy and find a beautiful locals-only beach.
