The Samyang 35mm f1.8 for Sony E mount is a fast, wide angle prime lens. I am using this lightweight and compact 35mm on the Sony A7C for this lens review. Watch my behind the scenes video below to see the Samyang 35mm f1.8 for portrait photography. We test the eye AF performance and speed with still and movement portraits. I also share 100% zoom SOOC photo samples to see the image quality and sharpness of this lens.

I decided to keep this portrait photoshoot minimal with some simple styling. I asked the model to bring some jeans and different t-shirts we could choose from - we ended up deciding on this vintage tee which I love! The location I found was an abandoned building with textured sandstone walls and undercover areas. I thought this would make for an interesting background for portraits. I also liked there were huge trees in our location as well, I made use of them to take a look at the bokeh from this Samyang 35mm f1.8.

While my favourite 35mm lens for my Sony A7iii camera body is the GM 35mm f1.4, this Samyang 35mm is such a great budget-friendly option!
