The Google Pixel 7 Pro features a 50 megapixel Quad Bayer wide camera. This is in the phones default camera, which has an aperture of f1.85 and is the full frame equivalent focal length of 24mm. Throughout this portrait photoshoot I am shooting with both raw and jpg simultaneously. This is a feature I have always appreciated about Pixel devices. It's great to have the option between a ready to go JPG or a RAW .dng file to edit to your liking.

The Google Pixel 6a has a 12 megapixel ultra wide rear camera. It has an aperture of f2.2 and has a 114° field of view. The ultrawide camera has rich and true to life colours. The example photos I am sharing below are all unedited JPGs from the Pixel 6a. I really like the dynamic range of the ultrawide camera, there is plenty of detail and colour throughout the entire photo.
The Tokina Firin 100mm f2.8 Macro is a prime lens for Sony E-mount. I am using this lens on the Sony A7IV in the studio. I wanted a minimal look for today's beauty shoot so I am using the Silvertone backdrop from Superior. I styled Bella in an off the shoulder top so we don't have any outfits or fabrics distracting from the portraits.
During this photoshoot on the streets of Sydney, I share 5 composition tips to improve your portraits. I take you through my thought process when taking portraits in busy locations and share what to look out for to capture beautiful portrait of your subject.
The Samyang 35mm f1.4 mkII is a prime lens for Sony E mount. I am testing this lens out on location to see how it performs in the real world at a portrait photoshoot. I am using the Samyang 35mm f1.4 II on the Sony A7IV for photography and on the A7sIII for video tests.
The Sony GM 400mm f2.8 is a large aperture super telephoto prime lens. This lens is typically used for the likes of sports and wildlife photography, but I thought it would be fun to test it out for portrait photography. Using the Sony A7R4, I am taking portraits of Heidi in a natural light, outdoor location.
During this portrait photoshoot, I am comparing the Sony GM 135mm f1.8 vs Samyang AF 135mm f1.8 vs Sigma 135mm f1.8 Art DG HSM. I am using all 3 lenses on one Sony A7IV camera body to make sure we have identical settings during our tests. Watch my comparison video below to see SOOC, 1:1 views of all the photos. The Mini 3 Pro has a 1/1.3 inch sensor. It has a 48 megapixel camera with a 6.7mm f1.7 fixed aperture lens which is the full frame equivalent of 24mm. In video, we can record 1080p and 4K footage in 25, 30, 50 and 60p. This is an improvement from the Mini 2 where you could only film those frame rates at 2.7K. The Mini 3 Pro also features 120fps in 1080p.
The Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG DN Art lens is an E-mount lens for Sony. I am using this Sigma prime on the Sony A7IV. For this portrait photoshoot, I wanted to do something a little bit different. Usually I am photographing outdoors in very green locations with natural light. This time, I booked in a beautiful photography studio with large windows for our photoshoot.
The Sony GM 24-70mm f2.8 MKII is a lightweight standard zoom lens for Sony E mount. This lens weighs an impressive 695 grams and uses four XD linear motors to achieve fast autofocus. I took these photos in June of 2019, it was the last time I've travelled overseas from Australia since the pandemic started. At the time, Dan and I were staying with his family in Gdansk, Poland. We travelled to a few different places during the month we were there including Scotland to capture a wedding, a roadtrip to Austria and this little trip to Granada, Spain.
As a portrait photographer, I find it extremely helpful to try different styles of photography. Doing photography outside your comfort zone can help with your creative flow. One night, I went for a walk around Sydney with the Sony A7sIII and GM 135mm f1.8.

To create the Sony 14mm f1.8 GM lens review video, I roadtripped with Dan to the Blue Mountains during peak autumn colours. I wanted to make the most of these gorgeous orange and red leaves so Dan took portraits of me with the Sony 35mm f1.4 GM and Sony A7III.
I used the Sony A7IV and the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 lens for these photos. While I am a portrait and wedding photographer, I do enjoy going out to do landscape and wildlife photography. I saw the opportunity to visit these waterfalls on a rainy day and was hoping to see some fog - the weather definitely delivered for me!
