This has got to be one of the cheapest autofocus lenses available for Canon DSLR cameras, I picked up mine used for about $30 USD. The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is a compact and affordable prime lens offering a wide aperture for low-light shooting and creative depth of field control aka bokeh! This is a great lens for beginners and gives a very budget friendly entry into DSLR photography. These are the photos I captured with it.

This set of photos is a portrait photoshoot I did on the streets of Sydney using the Canon 5D mkIV + Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 lens.
In this photography tutorial, learn how to pose your clients for a portrait photoshoot. These are easy posing prompts that you can use for a subject who isn’t comfortable in front of the camera.
In this photography tutorial, I share my thought process behind how I find locations for my portrait photography!
The Tamron 35-150mm f2.8-4 is a variable aperture zoom lens for Canon EF mount cameras and I am using it on the Canon 5D mk4. We are doing a portrait photography in natural light on the streets of Sydney photoshoot to test this lens in a real world setting.
Last year while Dan and I were in Europe, we decided to go on a roadtrip with Dan’s cousin Karol and his girlfriend Gosia to Austria. I took the Sony A7III with me for travel photography with the Sony 28mm f2 and 35mm f1.4.
The Canon 50mm f1.2 is an EF mount lens for Canon camera bodies. During this portrait photoshoot, I am using it on the Canon 5D mkiv.
The Lensbaby Sol 45 45mm f3.5 Lens for Canon EF is a compact, creative lens. With the Sol 45 you can do selective focus photography by tilting and focusing this small lens.
In this portrait photoshoot behind the scenes video, I am using the Canon 5D mk4 with the Canon 35mm f1.4 II lens for portrait photography. We had an overcast morning at the beach for this photoshoot, so the soft light helped with taking great portraits of Tyler. I have a tutorial on how to take better photos during overcast weather here if you’re interested. I made use of the rocks at our location to add some texture and interest to the portraits I was taking. I also love the shark net at this beach, so we made use of that with some different styles of portraits as well.

Watch the behind the scenes of our photoshoot below where the first time I ever, I completely stack it while taking photos haha. I take lots of fast movement portraits on the Canon 5D mk4 and make the most of golden hour for these portraits. Please subscribe to my channel, I release 2 new videos a week on Wednesday & Saturday!
For this countryside portrait photoshoot I was taking photos on the Canon 5D4 and the Canon 35mm f1.4 II lens. This was my first time taking the Canon 35mm f1.4 II for a portrait photoshoot and I was so excited to be using it! I noticed straight away that the autofocus was faster than the Canon 35mm f1.4 mkI version of the lens and the final images were so much sharper.
I have since done many portrait photoshoots on the Canon 35mm f1.4 II. One of my favourites is this golden hour session with Kristina where we captured lots of movement on the 5D4.

I finally have my hands on the newest version of my favourite lens: the Canon 35mm f1.4L mkii! I thought I would share all the first test photos and comparison images to the mki Dan and I took this week so you can have a peek at the differences. Looking at all the comments on my comparison video, there seems to be lots of mixed reviews about the 35mm mki vs mkii - they definitely have a different vibe each, but I do love them both! I can't wait to do a portrait session with it tomorrow and share those results + behind the scenes video with you guys really soon.
All photos in this blog post were taken with the new 35mm mkii unless otherwise stated for the comparison images. If you want to learn more about the lens, please check out my latest review video on it below! And please subscribe to my channel if you have already - I release 2 new videos a week.
